Pärnu Harmonica Festival

Baltic-Nordic Harmonica 2010

is held for the ninth time in Estonia in Pärnu , the eastern pearl of The Baltic Sea. This festival is popular and attracts many guests (in 2009 more than 2000 visitors). The participants of the festival have been harmonica players from Northern and Baltic countries, also form Germany, Austria, Holland, England, Italy and France. The special guests have been outstanding musicians as Duo Cadence, Fata Morgana and the Multicats (Holland), Gerhard Werner, Annegret Arndt and Picca Trio (Germany), Walter Buchinger and Quartet AUSTRIA (Austria), Jean- Louis Emmenecker ( France), Willi Burger ( Italy), Brendan Power ( UK), Dennis McMasters (USA), Eddie Martin (UK)and also world champions Filip Jers (Sweden), Alberto Varaldo (Italy) and Philip Achille (UK). The festival takes place from July 30th – August 1st in Pärnu, Estonia. The competition for harmonica players BALTIC – NORDIC OPEN will be one important part of the festival. The winners of each category get the title of Baltic-Nordic Champion and a prize, the jury also nominates the winner of the competition with monetary prize. The festival and the competition will be held in the Summer Theatre “ Kuursaal”, which has various halls for performances and also several services for musicians and guests. There are workshops, Gala- and open-air concerts in the programme of the festival, there is also a special folk-music concert with audience awards. We welcome professional and amateur harmonica players from all over the world together with their families and friends. In addition to the festival you will have the opportunity to see one of the most well-known summer resorts among Nordic countries. The deadline for booking is May 15 , 2010 There are flights from all major cities to the capital of Estonia, Tallinn or to the capital of Latvia, Riga. From Tallinn and Riga you can take a bus to Pärnu (from Tallinn130 km to the south, from Riga 180 km to the north). From Rostock, Stockholm or Helsinki you can also come by ferry.
